This piece was one of three works chosen for the LPCA FISU Games exhibition. The show, called Save Our Winters, focused on global warming and the effects it’s having on the Adirondacks. My imagination with this one went straight to the idea of solar power in every household. I had no idea if something like that is truly possible, but I thought, why not paint a piece that shows what that kind of future might look like…

Even more than the solar homes, though, what I really wanted to show was the neighborhood feeling… a community that supports each other… a place where people take care of one another… where neighbors wave from across the street. I was trying to show that even a cold, dark winter night can be warmed by people and the feeling they create together.
